After first introducing the “Read It” feature to the CES show three months ago, Google (Google) has now launched the innovation for all users. This is actually a new capability of the Digital Assistant (Google Assistant), which is now able to read aloud the contents of every page on the network.
The content is also automatically translated from the source language into the user’s language, as long as it speaks one of 42 different languages. The Hebrew language is not included in the list, although Ynet reports that this innovation was developed by the Israeli branch of the company. However, you can translate and read Hebrew pages in one of the supported languages.
In order to experiment with the service, you must log in to the website you are interested in hearing, then activate Google Assistant via voice command (“Hi Google”), and then request to read the page (“Read this page”). The assistant will start reading the text, automatically scrolling to the bottom of the selected page according to the reading rate.
Currently, the feature is exclusive to Android users, though Google hopes to bring it to iOS users in the future as well.
