We did not see smart watches at the Barcelona mobile show (except for Pebble), but the rumors were not forgotten. Over the past few months, we’ve heard that Apple and Intel are working together to develop a smart watch that will integrate with the rest of the company’s products and run on a dedicated version of iOS and Samsung has also reported that the company is working on Galaxy Altius development . Samsung is now officially confirming that it is indeed working on developing such a watch.
Lee Young Hee, senior vice president of Korean company, confirms to Bloomberg that they work on a smart watch: “We develop the products of the future, and smart watch is definitely one of them.” He also said that it is very important for them to be the first to launch the product, to gain high visibility and create a new field that is no longer being developed.
Lee did not say what the new features of the watch will be or how it will work with the new Galaxy devices, most notably the Galaxy A 4 announced last week and whether it is a standalone watch or dependent on continuous communication with the company’s device. But it is said that Samsung’s smart watches domain is not very foreign and has in the past developed a clock (pictured) through which to talk and run apps but quite limited and that was before the Android system blossomed.
