As expected, Xiaomi announced the Mi Band 5 , an upgraded version of the popular fitness band. It will be available for purchase beginning June 18, for a particularly attractive $ 27 price tag, along with a NFC-supported version priced at $ 32 for the Chinese market.
The screen remains OLED, but grows from 0.95 inches to 1.2 inches. The processor is also slightly more powerful, but for many users the most important upgrade will be the charging cable: Instead of an external charger that requires the watch to be disassembled from the strap, the Mi Band 5 is charged via a cable that connects directly to the watch magnetically. The battery time remains high and the manufacturer claims 14 days.
Mi Band 5 also includes a sleep tracking sensor and 11 other sports modes including yoga and five different swimming types. The heartbeat sensor can now alert for arrhythmias, much like the Apple Watch. The Mi Band 5 is also optimized for women’s use, with dedicated health surveillance for them as well as a menstrual monitoring app. The app also includes various recommendations for improving training and physical condition.
Finally, the Mi Band 5 Fitness Strap can be controlled on the camera on your smartphone for group photo scheduling. The clock face now supports animations, and the user will be invited to choose from hundreds of different designs. The strip is resistant to diving up to 50 meters deep.
The sale has already begun on the Chinese sites , but it should be noted that notifications in Hebrew are currently not supported.
