Synology storage manufacturer (Synology) launched the DiskStation DS420j that was announced last month. This drive is designed to provide a relatively low cost backup and file sharing solution compared to the conventional one.
The DiskStation DS420j is a NAS drive that offers the full range of recognized capabilities of the company, much like the advanced DiskStation DS918 model we reviewed with us, based on the DiskStation Manager platform. Among other things, it enables file backup, network storage and advanced network services.
It supports a host of different features such as photo storage and backup right from your phone, backup as a Google Drive drive with a computer application, button-sharing, replacement for Office applications, indoor and outdoor video streaming with Plex and more. The operating system also includes access to an app store with many extensions.
The DS420j allows connection of up to 4 local drives, without fast pullback support, with guaranteed performance rates of up to 112 Mbps, which is about half compared to the more expensive NAS drives. It runs on a 1.4-GHz quad-core processor with 1 Gb of working memory, and behind it is equipped with a 1 Gb network connection and a pair of USB ports.
The DiskStation DS420j is already sold for about $ 300 (about NIS 1000).
